Down syndrome does not stop Ethan Holt from pursuing his dreams. Ethan Holt is 16 years old, and he’s a popular young athlete. Recently he even became a model for a beachwear brand.
Ethan has won gold medals for swimming and Special Olympics paddleboard not just on the state level but regional. Phoy Holt, Ethan’s mother, said, “He loves the beach. He’s a water baby”. This is exactly how Ethan caught the attention of Surf Style.
Ethan expressed, “It does feel good to be at the beach, get a tan.” Ethan is an example that people with Down syndrome should not feel the weight of the world on their shoulders. They can express themselves, and they can pursue their dreams. There are no boundaries in achieving success.

Help Us Gather (HUG) and Surf Style collaborated to help people with special needs feel friendship, confidence, and a sense of inclusion. The two companies have done a photoshoot with Ethan, and it gave him more exposure to his personality, talents, and achievements.
Through their campaign with Ethan, the two companies hope they’ll motivate other brands to represent individuals with disabilities. Phoy knows her son is an inspiration to people with disabilities. She said, “He’s a big influence and example for all the little guys that also have Down syndrome, and they see what he can do and [are] very proud of that.”
Robin Lally of HUG has spoken to Fox 13 and said, “One in four adults has a disability; there’s not one in four marketing campaigns that features that. Having our friends represented in media and marketing, not only does everyone love it, but they can also be role models for others with special needs, for their families who can look up and say, ‘I can model, I can be a professional, I can do things’.”

Ethan is emotionally and mentally healthy because he didn’t let his difference be an obstacle for him to make his dreams come true. Phoy said, “He wants to be a YouTuber; he wants to be a social media influencer; Ethan loves to sing, and dance, and rap; he gets into all kinds of things.”
Ethan is an inspiration not just to people with Down syndrome but to aspiring swimmers and athletes as well. Ethan is also an inspiration for people who want to remain positive in life. He is making people believe that someday we’ll achieve success in our endeavors, and we’ll become better persons too.
