Powerful Message! Armor of God – Righteousness

In and of ourselves, it is impossible for us to live righteously; “as it is written: ‘None is righteous, no, not one (Romans 3:10, ESV).” We are the very enemies of God until we have been changed by His Spirit. Then the war is within ourselves. The point of Ephesians 6 is to rest on the power of the finished work of Christ, not through our work lest anyone should boast. Paul, uses the same rhetoric in 1 Corinthians 1:30-31 in saying that Christ is our Righteousness. We are already declared righteous. He rights our boat because we are too powerless to do it ourselves. In our stupor, we try to flip the boat over again only to realize that our sin cannot over power the work of the Holy Spirit. When we fall, God uses our mistakes to show us how powerless we are to avoid our indwelling sin. We should mortify our sin, yes, by following God’s commandments and thus showing that our faith is not dead. Those who are in Christ live like Christ. When your weakness manifests itself awaiting our glorification in Christ at His coming, lean into him and not on your own understanding.
