Andrea was born a healthy baby girl with a full head of hair. But by the age of 2, her hair started falling out in patches. By the age of 4, she was bald.
The doctor diagnosed Andrea with alopecia, an incurable autoimmune disease that causes sudden hair loss. At first, she had to wear heavy netted wigs that looked rather fake.
Then came along Hair Wonders, a company that makes realistic wigs tailored to perfectly fit each individual’s head. Once Andrea was fitted with her reddish-brown custom wigs, she was never really bothered by her condition.
Fast-forward 15 years, when Andrea was a college student and skilled field hockey player: While walking through the gym one day, a stranger called out to her from behind.
“Excuse me, ma’am?”
Andrea turned around to see the school janitor staring at her. Since she was without her wig, he initially thought Andrea was a cancer patient. She explained her situation — but the janitor did something that caught her completely off guard.
“Do you mind if I pray?” the janitor, Greg, asked her. She said “yes.” And with that, Greg removed his gloves and put his hand on Andrea’s head, praying for a few brief moments. There was something so strange and yet comforting about the brief encounter.
Days passed by, then something incredible — and miraculous — began to take place.
