It is always a touching and emotional experience whenever someone dedicates a song for you. The song does not only give hearing pleasure to the listeners, it also gives spiritual strength and emotional support. But it’s an entirely different thing when the person serenading you is someone whose life you’ve touched as well.
That’s exactly what took place at the Austinburg Nursing & Rehab Center in Austinburg, Ohio. A hospice worker dedicated an inspirational song to one of his elderly patients, Mary, as she was lying on her bed. Joshua Woodard, who was tasked to look after the patient, did not only pick just any song, but the old-time favourite, “How Great Thou Art.”
According to additional details, Woodard knew Mary from way back. That’s because the elder woman taught him how to sing when he was only 9 years old. Surely, this tremendous act of kindness toward the woman is a sign of his endearment and appreciation of what she had done for him.
As seen in the video, Mary may not have the most evident of reactions, but she surely heard and appreciated the special gift just for her. “Mary taught voice and piano in her day and this aide Joshua Woodard was one of her students as a kid. Special people hospice workers are!”
Mary died a few days later, bringing with her a special gift that no money can buy.
