The restaurant chain Popeyes has started offering chicken sandwiches this month, and it’s an instant hit. Many of the Popeyes branches run out of supply. Customers keep on coming, and their employees were stressed.
Something extraordinary happened at one of the Popeyes branches in Greensboro, North Carolina. A worker at an adjacent Chick-fil-A walked over with Chick-fil-A sandwiches to help out hungry Popeyes customers and stressed-out employees.
Jené Walker and her coworker happened to be one the Popeyes customers that day and witnessed the whole bizarre scene. They saw a guy holding several Chick-fil-A sandwich bags outside the restaurant, and at first they thought it was an employee of Popeyes.
Jené joked the man, “What are you doing over here? That’s weird you’re over here with a Chick-fil-A bag at Popeyes.” Fox 4 News interviewed Jené, and she said, “Just the timing was weird.”
The man that Jené saw is an employee of Chick-fil-A. He brought their sandwiches at Popeyes to help because he knows their competitor has run out of sandwiches, and the demand of the customers burdens the employees there.
Jené took photos of the incident and shared them on Facebook, and it went viral. Jené said, “I just felt that was just super awesome, especially with everything going on in the media with them.”
Jené stated the Chick-fil-A personnel said, “If y’ all meet me across the street, y’ all can have chicken sandwiches on me.” Jené and her pal did that. She admitted on Facebook that Chick-fil-A remains her fave restaurant.
She wrote, “ChickFila, I promise to NEVER cheat on you! You’ve shown loyalty to me even when I was about to be disloyal to you all. I love y’ all forever.”
Chick-fil-A and Popeyes engaged in a debate on Twitter, but the tone is friendly. Popeyes promises they will add chicken sandwiches to the menu permanently, and that they won’t ever run out of supply again.
