Christian musician “Lecrae” Devaughn Moore went to Israel recently, and it’s a fantastic experience. The 39-year-old award-winning rapper shared his incredible experience on his Instagram last Thursday to show his baptismal in the sacred Jordan River.

Lecrae said, “Today we got baptized in the Jordan River. The one John baptized Jesus in. I was joking before I got dipped and I said if a bird lands out here like the dove on Jesus, bruh, I’m going to have a heart attack. Just take me to heaven cause God is speaking too loud! Well, look at the pics. I love Jordan because of all the symbolism it holds, and it was the border of the promised land. It was the picture of safety and security. Getting baptized in it was an incredible experience for me”.

Today we got baptized in the Jordan River. The one John baptized Jesus in. 🙃🙏🏽🙌🏽 I was joking before I got dipped and I said if a bird lands out here like the dove on Jesus, 🦢 bruh….I’m gonna have a heart attack. Just take me to heaven cause God is speakin too loud! Well look at the pics. 🤯. I love the Jordan because of all the symbolism it holds. It was the border of the promised land. It was the picture of safety and security. Getting baptized in it was an incredible experience for me. 💦 🌊 Here’s an interesting fact. Baptism didn’t start with John the Baptist. The Jewish ritual immersion in water is called a mikvah, which is a Hebrew word meaning gathering of waters. Immersion in a mikvah also represents death and resurrection. When you come back out of the water, you come back to life as a new creation. When I was immersed into Christ ✝️(not just water) I also become a new creation: “Therefore, if anyone is in Messiah, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” The more you learn the Jewish roots the more truth comes alive.

The Grammy winner was baptized twice already. In Lecrae’s 2016 Unashamed book, he said that a man named Brother Santiago baptized him in the Pacific Ocean while he’s visiting his grandmother in San Diego, California.

The musician also shared photos of his trip to the Holy Land on the Internet. The images he shared showed Jericho, Bethlehem, and the Mount of Beatitudes.

The rapper is open about how wild his teenage years were. He spent his formative years in Houston, Texas. His uncles were part of gangs, and they were always in the streets and involved in drugs, and they’re promiscuous.

Lecrae told CBN, “I idolized them. I wanted to be a gang member. I wanted every tattoo that my uncles had. I saw my first gun and all these different things. I was like, ‘this must be what it means to be a man.'”

Eventually, the rapper immersed himself in the gang and drug culture. Luckily, a cop arrested Lecrae for the charge of drug possession, and for the musician, it’s the turning point of his life.

The rapper recalled, “The police officer goes to the back of my car, and he saw the Bible. He came back to the police car and said, ‘Son, you’ve got a Bible in your car. Do you know what that Bible is about?’ I was like, ‘I need to.’ He said, ‘Today, I’m going to let you go, ’cause I want you to get into that Bible, and I want you to start living it.’ That did something to me. I didn’t want to get into any trouble like that again.”

After that incident, the talented artist allows God to lead his life. Lecrae is now a family man and has three kids. He has recorded nine studio albums and has won eight Dove and two Grammy awards.
