A police officer gets choked up as he prays with a 9-year-old boy who is about to go in for brain surgery.
At a time when most of the news about the police force tells of wrongful arrests, police brutality or mishandling of cases, it’s breath of fresh air seeing a police officer knelt down praying with all his might, voice trembling as he lays his right hand on a sick boy who’s about to undergo brain surgery.
The praying police officer was Jason Lamberth. The boy, Jalen Manns.
Lamberth said the deed wasn’t his alone, but for the whole Warner Robins Police Department in Georgia. The whole team escorted Jalen to the Navicent Hospital for the operation to show support and encouragement; he did the praying part. Lamberth said he wasn’t asking for attention but he can’t stop the views now at 5.8 million and counting, as the video is re-shared in Facebook for more than 125,000 times.
“It’s truly been mind-blowing, you know, like I said, I never expected any of the attention…I just wanted to get, one, believing in God’s healing powers. I never expected anything like this to go viral,” Lamberth said.
Maybe Lamberth isn’t aware that he is conveying very powerful messages. One, that there are police officers around who believe in God and who aren’t afraid to show their faith in demonstrating it publicly. Second, (this is quite important), he is telling the whole U.S. community that police officers can be trusted. In giving that impression, he is subtly telling his comrades all over U.S. to do the same.
Galatians 6:10 says it clearly, “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”
