Benny Hinn, controversial televangelist and organizer of the popular “miracle crusades” has officially renounced his prosperity gospel propaganda on a Facebook live broadcast on September 2.
Some of his previous teachings include the right of believers to have blessings of health and wealth which can be accessed through positive confessions of faith and by giving tithes and offerings.
In an interview on February 2018, in Facebook live, Hinn said, ”Some have gone to the extreme. It is not God’s word what is taught. I am as guilty as others. Sometimes you go to the father and he brings you to normality.”
“The more you know the bible more you become biblically based and more balance in your opinions and thoughts because we are influenced. When I was younger I was influenced by the preachers who taught whatever they taught. When I grow older I realized that this doesn’t fit with the bible and reality,” Hinn added.
“I’m sorry to say that prosperity has gone a little crazy and I’m correcting my own theology and you need to all know it. Because when I read the Bible now, I don’t see the Bible in the same eyes I saw 20 years ago,” Hinn said on the Benny Hinn Ministries’ Monday night service. The service was broadcasted online through Facebook Live.
“I think it’s an offense to the Holy Spirit to place a price on the Gospel. I’m done with it. I think the Holy Ghost is just fed up with it,” Hinn said.
“I’m making this statement for the first time in my life and frankly, I don’t care what people think about me anymore,” said Hinn.
His declaration renouncing prosperity gospel received a huge acceptance from his congregation.
