Michael Wood, a 16-year-old lifeguard, made a heroic act by rescuing a 2-year-old boy at a swimming pool in Henrico, Virginia.

The young boy was playing in the water, and Wood thought he was just holding his breath. But when he checked, the 2-year-old is already in bad shape. According to Wood, “He was pale, blue-gray color.”

But the teen lifeguard knew exactly what to do, as he was trained to do rescue. Wood administered CPR to the young boy, and thankfully, he got a great response.

“It was scary, but I said, ‘praise God.’” Wood told in an interview with the local television.

When the 2-year-old—who nearly drowned—cried, the young lifeguard got emotional as well and cried in relief.

The young lifeguard is not new to rescuing lives. Last year at Raintree, he also saved an 8-year-old boy. The Henrico County police investigated the incident but they resolved that there was no foul play or neglect. Wood is given a couple of days off work for his great response to a critical situation.
