A man shot two people during a church service in White Settlement, Texas, on Sunday before being fatally shot by parishioners.
One person died at the scene, one died on the way to to the hospital and one was in critical condition. All the victims were male.
Lisa Farmer told CNN her husband, church minister Britt Farmer, said the shooting happened during communion.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott offered his condolences in the wake of the shooting. “Places of worship are meant to be sacred, and I am grateful for the church members who acted quickly to take down the shooter and help prevent further loss of life.” He said.
Church security has became a major issue in the state after a gunman walked into a church in Sutherland Springs two years ago and fatally shot 26 people and wounded 20 others.
