Esmond Allcock, born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in 1910 turned 108 on January 26, officially making him the oldest man in Canada. Esmond had been blessed with an abundant family, with six children, 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Jehna Lehne, great-granddaughter of Esmond Allcock, shared that while others don’t have many memories shared with their great-grandparents, she had so many memories that she had with Esmond. She recalled how he would always heed to her request when she wanted to walk around, asking her great-grandfather to “Walk, walk” with her.

She recalled how her Esmond had called all his children when he knew that she was pregnant with her first child and how he shared with all his children that Jenna was going to increase the population of their family. But it was when she got pregnant with her second child, that Esmond had mentioned that even though he had 71 descendants, no one had named their son after him. At that time, Jenna and her husband were already expecting a son, so hearing this sentiment from her great-grandfather, they had decided that it was the perfect time to grant his only request.

“My Esmond was born January 11, 2017, nearly 107 years after his great-great-grandfather. Once the snow melted, I loaded up the baby and took off to the neighboring province to introduce my great-grandfather to his namesake,” Jenna shared.

In a video shared by Jenna, Esmond was seen carrying his namesake while asking who Jenna was. After sharing some stories, Esmond immediately recalled that she was the “walk, walk” girl.

The family was extremely touched when Esmond could not let go of the child and kept on kissing his head. “You don’t know what this means to me,” he said over and over again.

It was definitely a touching moment not only to Esmond but to Jenna as well, who had fulfilled one of the requests of his great-grandfather who had also always been there to heed to Jenna’s request when she was still a toddler. It is extremely fulfilling to know that you have given something in return to the person who has showered you love since the beginning.
