What an amazing sight to see! These High School Football players carried the cross together upon entering the field, then knelt down, and prayed together! This is what the NFL should look like.
This team got a statement to share! Marching down that field, carrying that cross, in the cool tune of Lecrae’s ‘Go Hard’ was just amazing! These young people wanted to make Jesus famous through their game.
If you didn’t know Christ, would your life look the same?
Can they tell you value Jesus by the way you rep his name?
Man, what’s the point of living if I’m living for myself?
Lord, empty out my life before I put you on the shelf
So for God, I go hard, I don’t wanna die tonight
But there are too many people living who ain’t heard about the Christ
I was reminded of this verse from Matthew 16:24-26: “Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”
These young men are literally taking up their cross. They are basically saying to the world that they are followers of Jesus, that their lives will be nothing without him in their lives, that no amount of victory whether in whatever game could replace the victory that Christ won on the cross and that they are playing that game to make Jesus famous!
Can you imagine what the NFL would look like if all the players have this kind of statement? Can you imagine the fame that Christ will have if one day the NFL players will make Jesus famous in their game?
