Junrell Fuentes Revilla was driving his motorcycle near the mountains in Cebu when a dog began to catch his attention.
The dog did not stop barking, which made him think the animal was informing him about something significant. Thus, he stopped his motorcycle and advanced toward the dog.
As Junvell Revilla followed, the dog brought him to a rubbish dump and led him toward a little squirming pile. Revilla was surprised to find a baby wrapped in a brown towel. “The location where the baby was found is isolated since it’s on the top of the mountain,” according to Hope for Strays staff member Gea Ybarita in her statement to The Dodo.
Revilla cradled the baby in his arms and brought the newborn to the nearest police station. Afterwhich, the Department of Social Welfare took charge. It was good that the baby was discovered at the right time and was healthy because of the dog’s actions.
The news about the heroic act of the stray dog spread like wildfire. This brought rescue volunteers from the Hope for Strays to search for the brave dog. However, a man who was the dog owner told the team that Black belongs to him.
“He showed us the way to his home and to our surprise, Blacky was there with three other dogs,” Ybarita said. “We’ve confirmed he is not a stray at all.”
The volunteers were glad that Blacky had someone that takes care of him. However, it was evident that the dog and the family who take care of him need help. The owner of the dog said,”‘No matter how hard life is, even though I’m poor, I feed all of my dogs and take care of them well,'” said Ybarita.
Blacky and his family became recipients from the community with an outpouring of donations of food, pet supplies, and others. Blacky might not have fully understood the impact of his action, but he has made a difference in his life, the family that takes care of him, and a newborn babe.
