A petition at LifePetitions.com has reached over 36,500 signatures of its 40,000-goal. “Tell Chick-fil-A to reverse course – Don’t cave into anti-Christian LGBT agenda,” reads the petition, in which it asks the popular fast-food chain to “immediately reverse its course and stop pandering to homosexual activists” and to resume donations for organizations that honor biblical values.
“We, the undersigned, ask you to reverse your decision to halt funding of Christian organizations which support one-man-one-woman marriage and the natural family, but which have been deemed by LGBT activists to be ‘anti-gay’,” reads the petition.
Meanwhile, according to Christian Headlines American Family Association has gathered over 87,000 signatures. This brings the total to over 100,000 who agree that Chick-fil-A should not withdraw funding for Christian organizations that do not support the LGBTQ way of living.
The petitions come after Chick-fil-A President and Chief Operating Officer Tim Tassopoulos told Bisnow that Chick-fil-A Foundation will no longer be funding to organizations that sparked criticisms in the past because of their stance on homosexuality. These include the Salvation Army, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Paul Anderson Youth Home. These Christian organizations were on the receiving end of boycotts and oppositions from LGBTQ activists.
We’re at Wellington & King this morning – thank you for your generous donations and the many honks of support! #LdnOnt #givinghopetoday ❤
Chick-fil-A has since received criticisms for its decision, some calling it a coward’s way to stoop down to something that the institution has defied for so many years. They say it is a shame that the company, which has stood by its practices of biblical values for many generations, has decided to cave into the demands of the LGBTQ activists.
Chick-fil-A to stop donating to anti-LGBTQ+ charities
Chick-fil-A is planning to change its charitable donations in the new year as the fast-food chain tries to avoid the spotlight that came with its history of financing evangelical groups that opposed LGBTQ rights, including same-sex marriage. CBSN Los Angeles reports.
