Kanye West continues to spread the good news about the Gospel to all people from all walks of life, regardless of age, gender, and race. He recently surprised inmates at a Houston prison with a gospel-filled worship service.
The singer performed songs from his new album “Jesus Is King” when he dropped by at Harris County Jail for a “mission” and “not a show.” Around 200 male prisoners showed up to hear him praise God through singing and share his testimony. He also performed for the female inmates.

There were hands raised as they sing praises to the Lord and some were on their knees, with their heads bowed down in prayer. There were also tears cried as the service, heightened with the energy and spirit coming from West’s choir, brought light to the crowd. The rapper even went out of his way to hug the inmates and pray over them in the midst of the singing.
“It really was like a worship service. Very uplifting not only for the inmates that are in here—you can see some who were down on their knees in prayer—to even some of our teammates who were brought to tears,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales told KHOU 11, adding that it was a “very powerful moment.”

Gonzales said that the jail hosts faith-based services or events but revealed that West’s worship service had the most number of attendees to date.
After his worship service at Harris County Jail, West made an appearance at Lakewood Church with Joel Osteen. There he talked about his faith and how he found God during the lowest point of his life. He shared that God called out to him and has been calling him but he has been distracted by the devil for such a long time.
“When I was at my lowest points, God was there with me. Inspiring me and sending me visions,” West told the church. Every time I stand up, I am drawing a line in the sand and saying I’m here in service for God,” West told the congregation.
