A lot of things have changed because of the Covid-19 virus. There are restrictions on going outside and because of that, people get bored, especially children.
Ian Simon, a mailman from Portland, Oregon, made waves in 2020 when he became famous for dancing with an adorable toddler.
Every morning, Ava, who was 3-years-old at the time, would look out the window and wait for her friend Simon to come and deliver the mail. Whenever he arrived, he would stop and do a little dance. Then Ava would dance along with him.
As for Simon, he was amazed to see how Ava gets so excited to dance with him. Their friendship and dance party started two years before the pandemic, and they would remain so as long as time would allow it.
David Whitlow, Ava’s dad, said that Simon was a sweet person. He was like a light in this dark time of the pandemic. He said their interaction meant a lot to him and to his family.
Whitlow posted a video of Simon and Ava’s dance on TikTok. It has been shared all over the world over 50,000 times. He already lost track of how many translations it received.
Netizens commended Simon for doing more than just delivering mail to his neighbors.
Simon told the news outlet that he loves his job because people depend on them for so many reasons.
“A lot of people depend on us through the weather, through this pandemic, through the fires and all the smoke, rely on us to get their Christmas presents online shopping,” Simon said. “I love my job.”
