“Don’t spend it all in one place,” said the anonymous customer who left a $16,000 tip for the Stumble Inn Bar & Grill in Londonderry, New Hampshire. At first, they didn’t believe it but the custom said that they deserve it because they work hard.
The anonymous customer ordered two hotdogs with chili and cheese, pickle chips, and a drink that cost $37.93. After paying, he left the huge tip.
As they were in disbelief, the staff thought it might be $160 but the anonymous customer said that it was $16,000.
The bar had to close down for a few months because of the pandemic lockdowns. When they operated again, they had to adjust to take-out orders and outdoor dining.
When the tip was listed, the owner of the restaurant, the bartender, said she couldn’t believe her eyes. She was absolutely in shock.
The tips that the restaurant receives is distributed to the whole staff sharing the duty. Owner, Mike Zarella, said that the tip will be shared by the eight wait staff who were on duty that evening. Several of the staff who were on duty that night were single mothers. The money was divided among them and Zarilla did not take any part of the huge tip.
Zarela said that “They deserve it 100%, they do.”
But the wait staff also did not want to keep the money to themselves. Instead, they decided to share it with the kitchen staff as well. The owner was proud of his incredible team.
When the generous tipper was asked why he did it, he said that “He just said that we work really hard and he knows we work really hard and he wanted to do something nice.”
Bartender Michelle McCudden said, “For someone to do something like that really restored my faith in humanity.”
Like the parable of the good Samaritan, we must do good whether we are recognized for it or not because God doesn’t let any deed go without any reward.
