An Australian dad recently proved that a parent’s instincts are never wrong! Tony Lethbridge felt it in his heart that his 17-year-old son was still alive even after he went missing for 29 hours. And he did everything that he could possibly do to bring him back home.
Samuel Lethbridge Goes Missing For 29 Hours
The tragic incident happened in 2018 in Australia when a 17-year-old boy named Samuel left his parent’s house to bring his friend home. Following his short journey, Samuel was supposed to pick up his girlfriend for their date night, but he never made it.
Over a day later, Samuel’s parents and girlfriend do not have any idea what happened to him. When they reported that he’s been missing, the authorities said that Samuel must have run away from home.
Samuel’s Dad Tony Trusted His Instincts
However, the teenage boy’s parents knew that this was of character for their son. And their gutfeel also told them that he got into an accident somewhere and couldn’t get out.
“I understand that they’ve got a lot to do and they hear this every day, but I took matters into my own hands and was thinking all night that tomorrow morning, I’m just getting a helicopter and go looking for him because we’re running out of time,” Tony said.
Since Samuel’s parents didn’t have any proof and they were just relying on their intuition, the authorities didn’t take them very seriously at first. In fact, they repeatedly instructed the worried parents to go home.
However, Tony didn’t listen. In fact, he decided to take matters into his own hands. The next day, Tony went to the Skyline Aviation Group to see if the money that he had in his wallet would be enough to rent a helicopter. To his surprise, it was.
Since he’s afraid of flying, Tony tapped his brother Michael to join the pilot in his search for Samuel. And it didn’t take long before he found his nephew’s car in a deep ditch.
Samuel Survived the Tragic Incident Thanks To His Dad
When they approached the scene, Michael immediately saw that Samuel was alive so he contacted his brother. Tony also rushed to the scene and told his son that he was there to rescue him.
Samuel was then transported to a nearby hospital where he received treatment. Even though he survived, he still has a long way to go when it comes to his recovery.
The teenager reportedly suffered a broken arm, a dislocated elbow, and small fractures here and there. But the Lethbridge family’s story is something that everyone can take inspiration from.
During their interview, Tony and his wife said that they never doubted their instincts. They knew that Samuel was alive and that he needed help. So, they went all out to make sure that they would be able to bring him home alive.
Tony and Samuel’s touching story teaches us the importance of trusting our instincts. Oftentimes when he makes decisions, we second guess what we need to do because we are not listening to our instincts. But when we do, almost always we end up doing the right thing.
