How God Qualifies the Unqualified: Answering the Call to Share the Gospel to this Dark World

Chaos. Poverty. Drugs. Abuse. Sin. Hopelessness. These are the very things that Anderson and Robson have while growing up. But everything changes the moment they encountered the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. See how God qualified these two unlikely to be qualified individuals and how their lives are bringing the same love and grace that they’ve experienced to the slums of Rio de Janeiro.

God calls the unlikely— unlearned fishermen, tax collectors who were considered traitors in the society, Christ-persecuting murderer, you name it! Even back the Old Testament time, God called the insecure Gideon, the stutterer Moses, and the old Abraham. These are imperfect people. People who are not even qualified in the human standards to bring forth change. But God loves to call the unlikely and he certainly uses the unqualified. One thing is for sure: God qualifies the called.

God is still calling people, even today. Anderson and Robson are the living proof that you do not need to be qualified for you to be called, but God qualifies those whom he called.  They responded to the call despite their background, despite their past and it is the love and the grace of God that works in their lives. Right now, they are seeing miracles happen before their eyes everyday— people accepting Jesus and lives changed by the gospel of truth.

While watching this short film, I was reminded of the moment that God called Isaiah. In Isaiah 6:1-8 it says there:

“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;  the whole earth is full of his glory.”

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”

Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Isaiah considered himself unqualified to even be in the presence of God because of his sinfulness. But by the grace of God, his sin was atoned for and his guilt was taken away. This compelled him to answer God’s call.  In the same way, we may be unqualified because of our past, but we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus. No guilt. No shame. Our past does not disqualify us but we are accepted by the grace and love of Jesus. Today, He is calling you to be His witness. I pray that you will respond like how Isaiah did, saying: “Here am I. Send me!” And like Anderson and Robson, see miracles happen right before your eyes.
