Parents Say Goodbye to Their Newborn as Life Support Is Switched off, then He Starts Breathing immediately

Lisa Hough and her family witnessed a miracle that will strengthen their beliefs in God. Lisa’s daughter, Chelsea, gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Karson. Unfortunately, Karson was born with many medical complications and is suffering from two very rare conditions entirely unrelated to each other.

Karson was diagnosed with Non-Ketotic hyperglycinemia, a rare, genetic metabolic disorder that can cause severe neurological problems to the affected individuals.

“His case is presented as severe and would cause him to be severely neurologically impaired – functioning at a 2-3-month-old level at best for his lifetime,” Lisa wrote.

Knowing the severity of the case and its effect on the life of the baby, Chelsea came up with a tough decision to take him off life support.

Heartbroken, Lisa and the family bid their farewell to baby Karson.

“While we weren’t ready to say goodbye to Karson, we had come to terms with the inevitable. We were given 10 minutes after withdrawing intensive care and the ventilator and told he would not breath on his own and to expect his heart to stop within those 10 minutes.”

Just when they thought that it would be the end for Karson, a miracle just happened.

Karson miraculously started breathing on his own the moment the ventilator was removed. His heart rate and oxygen were normal. The baby that was expected to not make it after 10 minutes without the ventilator is now breathing and thriving five hours later.

“He is swallowing. He is surviving. He even has slightly opened his eyes a couple times today.”

The doctors had no explanation for how everything happened but what they know is God just showed them a miracle they will never forget.

Lisa said that she thought they were undeserving of a miracle at first, and they did not know how long Baby Karson would be with them, but they will enjoy every second they had with him.

On March 1, Lisa and her family received the fantastic news that their little bundle of joy could finally be discharged and go home with them that week.

“Every day, I am brought to my knees, and just when I think God is done, I am quickly reminded that he isn’t….I have no words for my gratitude, and I will praise Him for as long as I have air in my lungs for giving Karson his,” Lisa wrote.

Lisa’s post went viral and gathered more than 30,000 reactions from people celebrating the life of baby Karson.
