The recent Country Music Awards brought several famous names from the country music genre. Reba McEntire, Thomas Rhett, and Kane Brown were among those who received special recognition. The artists didn’t forget to honor God and Rhett even said a prayer during the ceremony.
Reba McEntire, who was awarded the “Artist of a Lifetime” turned emotional during her acceptance speech when she reminded everyone that “we need in life, a little bit more God.” She told the audience about the importance of lifting our thanks to God and never forgetting to honor him.
“We’ve got to give this world back to God. We’ve got to give him the focus and attention that he needs,” McEntire said.

The singer’s speech comes after Thomas Rhett said a prayer when he accepted his “CMT Artists of The Year” award. He took the moment to ask God to watch over Kane Brown and his family and for the family of the singer’s drummer, Kenny Dixon, who died four days earlier in a tragic accident.
“I just want to lift up Kane and his family and I want to live up his drummer and his family. I don’t know if this is very conventional, but can I just pray really fast? Is it okay with everybody?” he said before he bowed his head and closed his eyes to pray.
“Father God, we love you so much. Loss is something we can’t comprehend, and so right now I pray that you would be with Kane and his family and his drummer Kenny and his family, and bring them peace that only you know how to bring somebody,” Rhett prayed in the video below.

Rhett prayed after Brown took to the stage to offer his “CMT Artists of the Year” award to his drummer. The distraught singer held back tears as he recalled how Dixon always believed in him when they came out of Chattanooga off Facebook. When people didn’t think they would make it, Dixon was with him the whole time.
“He was so supportive of me. I love you, man, I miss you. The band misses you … I love the country community, and God bless you guys. Stay safe. I love y’all,” an emotional Brown said during his acceptance speech.
The CMT Awards was a live telecast so there was a possibility of Rhett’s prayer being cut. However, McEntire said that “it better make the cut” because she believed that God will air it and it did play on the re-broadcast.
