This 11-year-old genius challenges Einstein and Hawking’s beliefs. Both Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking dissed God. But this child genius, William Maillis, intends to prove them wrong!
William Maillis is a confirmed genius. He began speaking in full sentences at seven months old. He was doing addition at 21 months, and multiplication by the age of two. At four years old, he was learning algebra, sign language and how to read Greek, and when he was five, he read an entire geometry textbook in one night! He graduated high school in May of 2016, at the age of 9, and just last July 2018, this 11-year-old genius was the youngest to receive an Associate in Arts degree from St. Petersburg College in Florida.
William’s long-term goal is to earn a doctorate in astrophysics and ultimately prove scientifically that God exists. Being a son of a Greek Orthodox priest, William believes in God and now finding faults with the work of his two predecessors. He disagrees with some of Einstein and Hawking’s theories on black holes and has his own ideas to prove the existence of the universe, which is quite unusual for a normal 11-year-old.
Although more ‘book-smart’ than most kid’s of his age, Wiliam is also a normal kid. “I like a lot of the same things that they do, normal stuff like video games and watching TV,” he said. His father also said “You can’t distinguish him from other 11-year-olds. He likes sports, television shows, the computer and video games like everyone else.”
But still, William is unlike any kid. His dreams and interests are very distinct from all the other kid his age. William said that his interest in proving the existence of God began when he was about five or six and has evolved into a complex theory that he hopes one day to prove. “I want to be an astrophysicist so that I can prove to the scientific world that God does exist,” William said during his interview with Hellenic College Holy Cross. And when asked why does he need to prove it, this is what he said: “Well because there’s these atheists that try to say that there is no God, when in reality it takes more faith to believe that there’s no God than it does to believe that there is a God… Because it makes more sense that something created the universe than that the universe created itself. It takes more faith to say the universe created itself than to say something other created the universe because that is more logical.”
This young man believes that what he has is a gift from God. Recounting the parable of the talents, William said, “We need to invest in our talents, and we need to invest in the gifts that we have from God, and not just bury them.”
It is truly amazing how he is using his gifts to proclaim that God does exist and it is also amazing how God is using William to advance His kingdom. I can’t wait to see how God will use William 10, 20, or 50 more years from now!
