How Can Homosexuality Be Wrong If It Doesn’t Harm Anyone?

How can homosexuality be wrong if it doesn’t harm anyone? People have different say to this but let’s hear as the church say important points as to why homosexuality is wrong and as they point out the harms that the society couldn’t see.

Gender and sexuality have gone more complicated through time. Some people feel that their assigned sex at birth doesn’t match their gender identity. They may be male or female at birth, however, they feel the otherwise, that’s why they begin to act as they feel or begin to dress as they feel. Gender identities change because basically of how people feel about themselves.

And the sad reality is that homosexuality becomes so popular that society has started to accept it. “Yes, as long as they are not harming anyone, nothing‘s wrong with it! It’s their life anyways.”

But I just want to point this out: Popularity doesn’t make things right. Yes, it may be a trend but it doesn’t change what’s already been established as right and wrong.

I like how J. D. Greear, Voodie Bauchman and Russell Moore pointed out why homosexuality is wrong and how it harms not just the individual but the society, including the family and the church, as a whole.   In discussing this issue, they go back to the purpose of sex and marriage. Why did God established sex and marriage in the first place? It is for a man and woman to become one flesh, for flourishing, for procreation, for the continuation of generations. They note that same-sex marriage is utterly impossible since it defeats the very purpose of why God created sex and marriage. It defeats God’s design of the family. They also noted that as homosexuality is being directly linked to civil rights, it will harm the church for it will destroy the established standard of morality set by the church. Its harms may not surface now but it will surely do for its going against what’s already been established.

While studying about the topic on homosexuality and gender orientation, I realized that everything is just based on feelings. “It feels right, so this is right.” You see? This is an obvious lie from the enemy. This is how the enemy presents sin!  Sin is always presented as something good, as something right, for us to indulge in it, and before we knew it, we are burning in hell with Satan. This is classic but we never learn from it!

Of course, we love our brothers and sisters because that is what God commanded us: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Matthew 22:39) But we certainly hate sin. God hates sin. No matter how good you feel about it, sin is still sin. Sin is anything less than the standard that is set by God. And in this case, homosexuality deviates God’s design and purpose. Even from the beginning, procreation is one of God’s first commandments to Adam and Eve. In Genesis 1:28 it says there: “God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” You see? It is still the enemy’s plan that we disobey God and he is doing all that he can for us to do so. This command will not happen if a man and a man come together or a woman and a woman come together. They will never be one flesh. This isn’t the design of God but certainly the design of the enemy. Note that this is just in the lens of marriage and we can already see that homosexuality is utterly wrong. Homosexuality may harm God’s design of the family, church, and even God’s design for you as an individual. HOMOSEXUALITY DOES HARM BECAUSE IN THE FIRST PLACE IT IS WRONG.
