On a recent edition of Steve TV, a gospel singer, Duranice Pace, sang a prophetic song that brought host, Steve Harvey, to tears. According to CBN news, the video has received more than 10 million views on Facebook.
Pace tearfully told the story of how she was terribly abused as a child and how she was given rat poison which destroyed much of her vocal cords. She was told by doctors that she would never be able to speak let alone sing. Some time after that, she was diagnosed with cancer with only a few months to live—that was eleven years ago. As she recounts, God had other plans for her.
Pace added that God brought her to the show to give Harvey a message too. She then broke into a prophetic song singing:
“This is Steve Harvey, he’s a good man. He loves the Lord and he’ll give you a helping hand. God’s going to bless Steve Harvey,” she sang. “Keep on, keep on, you helped me to live, sir, keep on … you special.”
Harvey came to tears and shared how he straightened up his life for his mother. He recalled how difficult it was for him to take her off of life support. He began sharing how he knows she is in heaven and he is living a good life so he can see her again, saying that he would be going to hell if it was not for his desire to be with her again.
Pace told Harvey, “You gonna make it to heaven”.
While the story is deeply moving, we must realize that neither parents, doing good, or straightening our lives out will help us “make it to heaven.” Harvey’s clearly emotional moment and Pace’s assurances are not enough to enter the indescribable joys of heaven.
One essential Person was missing from the emotional moment on the show—Jesus Christ—the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Him. May we be reminded that the Lord took our sins upon Himself and offers us not only forgiveness of our sins by faith in Him and His finished work, but also righteousness by His resurrection.
