At just 8 years old, Ronnie survived being stabbed 20 times and set on fire by his father, who was later convicted of murdering the boy’s mom and sister. When he was recovering in the hospital, he got a visit from Hillsborough County Sheriff Mike Blair, and Ronnie asked Mike to watch a movie.
Danyel Blair, who became Ronnie’s mom, says that she’d already known that they wanted to take Ronnie home with them that night. Five months later, the Blair family grew from seven to eight when they adopted Ronnie.
