Candace Cameron Bure Slams Grammy Awards For ‘Never Showing’ Christian and Gospel Artists

On her Instagram Story, Bure questioned that “not podcast related but today are the Grammys and can we see some of the Christian and gospel artists on the red carpet?” and she mentioned Hillary Scott, Kirk Franklin, TobyMac, Maverick City, and Phil Wickham.

However, despite her interest in seeing those artists on the red carpet, Bure did not watch the show itself.

As one of the few openly conservative Christian actresses in Hollywood, Bure has faced criticism for her views.

She recently made headlines when she confirmed that her new home network, Great American Family, would prioritize traditional marriage in its content. Despite pushback, Bure has remained steadfast in her faith and commitment to love all people.

“I have long wanted to find a home for more faith-based programming,” Bure wrote in her statement. “I had also expressed in my interview, which was not included, that people of all ethnicities and identities have and will continue to contribute to the network in great ways both in front of and behind the camera, which I encourage and fully support.”

“I’ve never been interested in proselytizing through my storytelling, but in celebrating God’s greatness in our lives through the stories I tell.”

“I am a devoted Christian,” she added. “Which means that I believe that every human being bears the image of God. Because of that, I am called to love all people, and I do.”

“If you know me, you know that I am a person who loves fiercely and indiscriminately. My heart yearns to build bridges and bring people one step closer to God, to love others well, and to simply be a reflection of God’s huge love for all of us.”

Bure credits her faith with helping her through a challenging year in 2022, during which she faced backlash and also mourned the loss of her former “Full House” co-star, Bob Saget.

For Bure, her faith is a core part of who she is and guides her in all that she does.

The lack of recognition for Christian and gospel artists at the Grammy Awards is a sentiment that many Christians can relate to.

Bure’s call for greater visibility for these artists suggests that perhaps more people would watch awards shows if they recognized the music that they love.
