Mike Fisher talked about the inspiration for “Catchin’ Deers,” a hunting supply and apparel brand that he, his brother Bud, and some friends started in a recent interview with Fox and Friends. He revealed that the idea stemmed from his relationship with God.
The former NHL star said that it was God who put the idea in his heart and mind. It was God’s calling that he starts the business, which sells hunting supplies. Pointing out that he always felt closest to God while hunting and fishing, Fisher revealed that he got the push to start “Catchin’ Deers” after he retired from playing professional ice hockey.
“After I retired, God kind of put this on my plate without expecting it,” Fisher said.
Fisher said that the business venture is more than just a brand. The group incorporates their faith and values into their products in their desire to spread the Gospel.
“We love the outdoors, we love to hunt, and we are in Tractor Supply now nationally. We love sharing our faith through the outdoors,” Fisher said.

On the website, “Catchin’ Deers” calls its company and the friendships formed within as a “gift from God” and aims to “honor him” with their products.
On its Instagram page, the brand usually shares Bible verses in their desire to share Jesus’ love with fellow Christians and to remind them about the goodness and grace of God.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1” reads the latest Bible verse on the “Catchin’ Deers” Instagram page.
Every Sunday, the group posts a Bible verse to share with their followers along with the hashtag #glorytoGod and #Sunday.

Aside from sharing God’s Gospel, “Catchin’ Deers” also aims to make people laugh. Fisher said they often put out funny videos on their social media pages to make the hunting experience fun.
