John Schneider Said God Sent Him Signs To Record Gospel Album ‘Recycling Grace’

John Schneider believes that his gospel album “Recycling Grace” is God-ordained and has been touched by God. He says he was inspired to make the album after he received messages from Him through people and places he knows.

The actor and country singer revealed that he recorded the Christian album after a five-year divorce battle from his estranged wife and after he remarried his longtime partner, Alicia Allain. The timing could not have been God’s choosing.

Schneider said that God sent him signs before he recorded “Recycling Grace.” The first happened when he and Allain heard “Amazing Grace” sung to the tune of “House of the Rising Sun” at a friend’s funeral.

“We were at a friend’s funeral and who comes up to sing ‘Amazing Grace’ to the tune of ‘House of the Rising Sun’ but the lead singer of the Blind Boys of Alabama. And he does that because my friend, the guitar player whose funeral we were at, played on that song. So Alicia and I looked at each other and it’s like, ‘Well, this appears to be a sign,’” Schneider told The Christian Post.

The second sign came at the same funeral when pop-country musician BJ Thomas asked him if he has any plans to record a gospel album or make worship songs. That question brought him back to the time when he and Johnny Cash talked about recording a gospel album. He had then asked him what he should do about it and Cash told him he’ll know when the time is right to record one.

“He said, ‘you’ll know because you won’t be able to not do it,’” Schneider recalled.

The “Dukes of Hazzard” star  believes now more than ever that “Recycling Grace” is “unquestionably touched by the finger of God.”  Among the songs on the album include “Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down.” Schneider called his album a reflection of all the things that he believes and “have gleaned over the last 59 years and currently believe to be true.”
