Francis Chan is an American preacher and a former teaching pastor in Simi Valley, California where he and his wife started teaching the word of God. He also wrote several books and spoke at national and international events and conferences. He and his wife Lisa founded Cornerstone Community Church with only 30 people and within two months, number of church members increased by God’s grace. This only shows how effective he is as a preacher. Chan frequently speaks about what the bible is really saying and how does it affect our daily living which makes people interested in listening to him.
In a video posted by Without Walls Ministries, Francis Chan told a story about members of Jehovah’s Witness who tried to share the gospel to him as he worked in his yard one fine day. Two women approached him and started sharing things about their faith and about what they believed in. Chan, as a Christian welcomed the conversation and listened to them and had some exchanged conversations. He started telling the women how great God is in answering his prayers and blessed his life. He was shocked when one of them told him that “God doesn’t listen to everyone’s prayer”. Chan agreed to her as what some parts of the Scripture says but told them that God listens to all of his prayers because of his faith and good intentions.
At times we are doubtful if God is really listening to all of our prayers. We as Christians should understand that God gives the desire of a pure and honest heart. Do we really have good intentions of what we ask from Him? Are we worthy of His blessings and grace? God’s “No” to one thing could be a “Yes” to another thing. God’s word in Psalm 37:4-5 reminds us to delight ourselves in the Lord and He will grant the desires of our hearts. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will work.
A day will come that the enemy will send somebody to test our faith and destroy what we believe that we may doubt the power of God. Stand firm and hold on to your faith for God knows the desire of your heart and He will not let His children fall into the hands of the enemy. For greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.
