Tim Tebow Shares the Gospel With Inmates At Maximum-Security Prison

Tim Tebow is not only famous as a football star but also for being outspoken about his Christian faith. The athlete has been preaching God’s word and he recently visited a maximum-security prison in Waco, Texas to spread the Gospel.

The ESPN football analyst visited Alfred D. Hughes prison on Thursday where he not only talked about Jesus with a group of inmates among the over 2,000 prisoners but also hanged out with them afterward. He took part in a push-up contest and got beaten 84-71.

“We had fun, but I got smoked! So encouraged by what God is doing at Alfred Hughes prison and grateful for the time spent with my new brothers in Christ today!” Tebow wrote along a video of him engaged in a push-up competition with the inmates. Tebow also shared a selfie with the inmates.

According to KWTX, Tebow’s foundation contacted a prison ministry called Discipleship Unlimited, led by Waco residents Suzanne and Terry Mabry to arrange a visit in response to a request made by the father of one of the inmates. He had asked the NFL star to drop by if he can at the prison.

Tebow was supposed to just spend a little while with the inmates but he ended up spending five hours with them. Mabry said she turned emotional and just started crying. She was blown away by Tebow’s compassion and dedication to spend time with the prisoners.

“He was in such a rush when we left but just to spend the day doing this when he could have been doing whatever but this is his passion and it just showed. It meant so much to us and it meant so much to the guys. Just to know someone cared,” Mabry told KWTX.

On his Instagram post, Tebow expressed his excitement to see how the inmates will “use their lives for the Kingdom as they grow closer to God and encourage others to live in faith” He also thanked the warden and to the staff for opening their doors and “letting us love on your boys.”
