A talented 11-year-old vocalist from Louisville marked a triumphant debut on the season 18 premiere of America’s Got Talent.

D’Corey Johnson gained local acclaim in Louisville after delivering a stunning rendition of the National Anthem during morning announcements. Subsequently, he embarked on a three-month nationwide tour, showcasing his singing prowess across America.

In September, 2023, Johnson secured the representation of a talent agent and made the bold decision to relocate to California in pursuit of his dream to achieve stardom.

During the recent premiere episode on Tuesday, Johnson wowed the audience with a cover of Journey’s 1982 hit, “Open Arms.”

When asked by AGT Judge Sofía Vergara about his aspirations for the future, Johnson responded without hesitation, expressing his desire to become a Broadway and movie star. Specifically, he expressed a keen interest in being part of productions like “Hamilton” and “Wicked.”

A devoted fan of America’s Got Talent, Johnson revealed, “I watch AGT almost every day. Simon, you are my favorite because you keep it real like my momma.”

Following his emotionally charged performance, AGT Judge Simon Cowell was visibly impressed and challenged Johnson to sing the chorus without the backing track. Johnson not only met the challenge but also earned a standing ovation from Cowell.

In a thrilling outcome, Johnson received affirmative votes from all four judges, securing his advancement to the next round.

Congratulations, D’Corey!
