From boxing star to presidency, Pacquiao is ready to lead the Philippines this 2020.
He made the official announcement on Sunday during the National Assembly of the PDP-Laban Party that he will run for presidency next year.
“I am a fighter, and I will always be a fighter inside and outside the ring,”
“We need government to serve our people with integrity, compassion and transparency,” Pacquiao said in his speech.
Pacquiao is currently a senator and has served in the Philippines’ Congress since 2016.
He is also the president of the PDP-Laban faction led by him and Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.
A lot of people question his qualifications but Pacquiao said that his experiences and personal hardships is what he’ll use to better understand people’s sufferings and end poverty and corruption.
“I am a fighter. In my whole life, I have never fought back,” Pacquiao said.
“The Manny Pacquiao you know as the national fist, is no different than the Manny Pacquiao who is with you against poverty and corruption. More than self– town must come first.” he added.
Pacquiao who is also an outspoken Christian said on one of his posts, “even the impossible can happen if it is ordained by the Lord.”
