Doing something good to a person that you completely do not know is one way of showing compassion. Helping other people requires love and sacrifice just as God sent Jesus to offer His life for the sins of the world. The Lord has ordered us to carry each other’s burdens and in this way, we are fulfilling the law of Christ. God is not unjust and He will never forget the work and love that you shared to others in order to help them and continue helping them. The Lord tells us to love one another just as He loves us.
Matt Van Peursem is the lead pastor of the Catalyst Church. He surrendered his life to Jesus at a very young age and started to serve as a worshiper and arts pastor. He received an unexpected phone call which led to a three-day journey of saving the life of somebody that he hasn’t met his entire life. He donated his bone marrow to a man with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of 60.
Loving and serving other people requires sacrifice without expecting anything in return. Pastor Matt’s generosity is a blessing to the old man’s family and the love that he showed brings glory to God. Share something that you have and let God be praised of your good deeds.
