Three people searching a dumpster in New Mexico for valuables found a baby in a trash bag. “Their collective quick response to this emergency, including notification of 911 was absolutely pivotal in saving this baby’s life,” said Hobbs Police Chief August Fons. Police say surveillance video shows 18-year-old Alexis Avila throwing out her newborn about six hours earlier. Investigators say she told them that she didn’t know she was pregnant until the day before and “panicked.”
