This commencement speech is the best that I heard so far. Denzel Washington puts so much weight in bringing back all the glory of his achievements and success to God. He teaches us that success starts with putting God first. I was reminded of this verse from Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” This advice didn’t just come from his own experiences, it is biblical! Denzel Washington is a living proof that the promise along with the command of seeking God first is true!
Lines like “Put your slipper way under the bed tonight so that when you wake up in the morning, you’ll have to get on your knees to reach them, and while you’re down, say thank you for grace….say thank you in advance for what’s already yours.” really stirred up my heart.
