Strange looks from others are the norm for 28-year-old Karine de Souza of Fortaleza, Brazil. She has a disfiguring skin disease, but it has not prevented her from becoming engaged to 23-year-old Edmilson Alcântara, also of Brazil. Karine suffers from a rare skin disease known as “Xeroderma Pigmentosum” that has no known cure. One complication includes skin injuries when she comes in contact with ultraviolet light.
It was her faith in God that first attracted Edmilson who saw the hidden inner beauty of Karine’s heart. They are now making wedding preparations and hired a wedding photographer, Daniel Panisson, to take professional photos. After the photo shoot, Daniel posted on his Facebook page a now-viral message:
