Bible Brings Trans Man and Lesbian Back to the Church and Turns Away from their LGBTQ Lifestyle

Janet Boynes was a lesbian who was in a same-sex relationship for fourteen years. Deep inside, her lifestyle did not feel right, and it took a toll on her.  A redeeming moment came to her when she was led by chance to Maple Grove Assembly of God in Maple Grove in Minnesota.

“The Bible says sin is fun for a season,” said on CBN’s The Prayer Link. “My life was taking a downward spiral, but the Lord was working on my heart.”

Boynes attributes her conversion to the support she had received from the church. Reading bible verses and prayer strengthened her resolve to ditch her same-sex relationship. Aware of what gays and lesbians are going through, Boynes organized Janet Boynes Ministries International.  Through this organization, she helps LGBTQ individuals to come out of their lifestyles.

“We want to assist them and help them and get them to the right counselor,” explains Boynes, “[We want to ] get them involved with their church and talk with churches around the country as to how they can work with those that are struggling,”

Another CBN The Prayer Link program guest named Jeffrey McCall shared his struggle as a transgender.  For two years, he lived as ‘woman’ named Scarlet.  Although he did what he wanted to do in his liberated lifestyle, he suffered from guilt, depression, and constant thoughts of suicide.

In 2016, McCall prayed to God for help.

He attended a church where he listened to Georgia-based Pastor Jentezen Franklin. His sermons and the Bible verses he quoted struck him and started to find some healing.

“I wasn’t obviously going to go to church as Scarlet,” he explained, “and during that time period, there were so many things he said. And I’ll never forget one message: ‘deep wounds, deep healing’. It talked about such deep wounds that sometimes we have and about how the Lord can heal them.  That was one message that specifically stuck out to me to know that there was a process of healing that the Lord could bring to any of us,”

From that day on, his life changed. McCall decided to join the church and come out in the open as a transgender woman who wanted to be freed from his lifestyle.

“I said God, ‘will I ever live for you,” he shared on the program. “I said, ‘I know God that there is something more than just church. There is something that happens in people’s lives where they have joy and peace’. And I heard God say, ‘Yes, you will live for me’.”

McCall travels around the United States to talk about his experience and preach how others like him can be transformed after being broken and lost. He wrote a book where he shares life story, For Such a Time: From Transgender to a Son of God.
