Teacher Asks Her 5th Grade Students to Be Her Bridesmaids and Groomsmen at Wedding

Alexandra Stamps is a first-year teacher at McLean Elementary, where she works alongside her new husband, Mason, who teaches third-graders. When Mason proposed, the two knew they wanted their students to be a part of their special day. “I love them and they’re part of my life. I want them to be up there with me because they’re my biggest fans,” the teacher said.

They could have just invited the students to their wedding, which is almost unheard of in and of itself, but they didn’t. Alexandra decided to go a step further and ask her students to be bridesmaids and groomsmen for her and her husband’s wedding!

Alexandra documented how she invited her students on TikTok. The view was heartwarming and gathered a lot of views. She started the video saying, “I’m about to ask my students to be part of my wedding.” Then she stood in her classroom and told her students that she had a really important question to ask them.

“Khloe, Mary, Reagan, Angelina, Esmeralda, Lucy, Lily, Bella, Harley – will you guys be my junior bridesmaids in my wedding?” and to the boys, “Bryland, Max, Eric, Emilio, Kayden, Will, Conner, Jessie, Jose, and Sebastian – will you guys be my junior groomsmen?” To this, all the enthusiastic students answered with a resounding “YES!”

Alexandra said that they decided to invite the students because they loved them so much. “I just want to give them this special part of my life. I want them to be part of it because I’m so proud of the hard work that they’ve done this year, and the fact that they’ve not only survived the pandemic — but thrived in it — and watching them grow as people this school year, they deserve to be up there with me,” the newly wed teacher said.

The kids were all dressed up for the occasion, and they looked just like a typical wedding party, albeit on a smaller scale. They danced with the bride and groom at the reception and even took photos with them. It’s likely that some of the students were attending their first wedding, and they seemed to be having a great time. Alexandra was incredibly gracious in inviting her class to her wedding.

“The best part was just their genuine smiles. I know they’re all excited to be here, so it’s just really sweet and it just means a lot to me,” Alexandra said at the end of the day.

Alexandra met her husband, Mason McDowell, at the same school when they were both being interviewed for the teaching position. They were supposed to be competitors but they kept a healthy relationship. In fact, it was so healthy that they fell in love with one another and eventually they married.

This goes to show that even though the pandemic tries to keep us away from each other, genuine relationships can still be fostered. The one that the newly wed teachers and their students show that nothing is impossible to those who believe.

God is putting people in our lives to teach us many things. Among these is to continuously trust in Him that He will never bring us to anywhere we may be harmed. During times it is hard to grasp what is happening, just trust in God for He will never leave us nor forsake us.
